Look at downtown San Leandro's fall calendar and the address 300 Estudillo Avenue keeps showing up. It's the Main Library. It's also the farmers market site, a café address, the book sale venue, the meeting place for a Spanish-language book club and a game night, and the plaza where telescopes go up in November. All of that fits on one block, one at a time.
That matters this month because the Downtown San Leandro Farmers' Market has a firm end date. The Pacific Coast Farmers' Market Association lists the market at 300 Estudillo Ave. on Wednesdays from 3 to 7 p.m. The season runs from April 1 to October 14, 2026. After two more Wednesdays, the produce stalls are gone until spring. The library block isn't.
The Market Was Always a Library Event
The farmers market seems like its own thing, but its address has always been the library's. The Downtown San Leandro page describes vendors setting up at the Main Library every Wednesday night, with live music and free parking at the City Downtown Garage, 122 Estudillo Ave. The same page gives two different time windows, so the organizer's 3-to-7 p.m. listing is the one to trust for the last two markets on October 7 and October 14.
The library has been holding more things for most of this year. On February 14, 2026, Iliana Berkowitz, founder of As Kneaded Bakery, opened As Kneaded Café inside the Main Library, according to Berkeleyside's Nosh. So the market's final season shared its address with a full-time café, and the café is staying put.
A Café That Keeps Its Own Hours
As Kneaded Café has its own door. The café's visit page says to look for the exterior entrance near the patio outside the library. It has a separate entrance because it keeps different hours from the library and opens early. It's open Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed Sunday and Monday.
The menu covers salads, sandwiches, baked goods and espresso drinks, with seasonal items like a lavender latte. One practical detail: some online reviews mention Monday hours, but the café's own page lists Monday as closed. Check that page before you plan a Monday stop.
On market Wednesdays, the café and the stalls overlap from 3 to 5 p.m. After October 14, that Wednesday afternoon at the library comes down to the café alone, and the café's schedule doesn't change.
The Library Also Co-Presents the Street Party
The library's reach goes beyond Estudillo Avenue. SPOOKTOBER, the October edition of San Leandro Second Fridays, runs Friday, October 9, from 4 to 9 p.m. at 1446 Washington Ave. The Downtown San Leandro site lists the San Leandro Main Library among its presenters, along with the Downtown San Leandro Community Benefit District, West Coast Makers, the city's Recreation and Parks Department, the San Leandro Optimist Club, Chase and Kaiser Permanente.
The lineup includes live music from Jordan Davis and Baycoin Beats, performances by DC Dance Youth, food trucks, a night market of vendors, a piñata candy drop and a costume contest for kids and pets. The event is free. The next Second Friday is November 13, with vendors, performances and food trucks.
So the same institution that hosts the Wednesday market helps run the Friday street party around the corner. When the market season ends, downtown loses the stalls, but the library keeps programming.
The Weeks After October 14
Here's the library block's calendar through early November, with a few nearby events that share its weeks.

| Wed., Nov. 4 | Evening Star Party, 6 to 7:45 p.m. | Main Library Plaza |
Two rows stand out. The Día de los Muertos family night on October 21 falls on the first Wednesday after the market's last day. And the Evening Star Party brings people back to the plaza on another Wednesday evening, three weeks after the stalls pack up. Volunteers from the Eastbay Astronomical Society set up telescopes on the Main Library Plaza. The city's listing says rain or cloudy skies cancel the event, so check the sky before you go.
The calendar also has events beyond the library block. Pumpkin Splash runs October 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club Pool, 2200 San Leandro Blvd. Outdoor Movie Night shows The Sandlot on October 17 at Floresta Park, 3750 Monterey Blvd. On Halloween morning, the Halloween Family Fun Fest runs from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Manor Library parking lot and program room.
East 14th at Callan Covers the Rest of the Day
The library block runs on daytime and early-evening hours. As Kneaded closes at 5, and most library programs end by 7:45. The other end of downtown's day is at Centro Callan, 100 Callan Ave., where the ground-floor retail is Sprouts Farmers Market and Philz Coffee.
Sprouts opened at 1188 E. 14th St. on Friday, November 14, 2025, according to San Leandro Next, the city's economic development site. The store's listing gives hours of 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Once the Wednesday market is done for the year, a full produce section downtown is open well past 7 p.m.
Philz Coffee is at 1194 E. 14th St. It officially opened with a ribbon-cutting on March 19, 2026, and Mayor Juan González gave welcoming remarks. Murals inside the café feature cherries, dahlias, stock cars and other pieces of San Leandro's history. San Leandro Next also reports that this is the Philz location closest to the company's roasting plant.
Put the two ends of downtown together and you get a full weekday. As Kneaded opens at 9 a.m. at the library, which hosts programs into the early evening. Sprouts and Philz on East 14th cover the hours on either side.
A Few Practical Notes for the Next Six Weeks
- Last market: Wednesday, October 14, 3 to 7 p.m. Plan your final flower or produce run for that afternoon.
- Parking: The Downtown San Leandro site lists free parking at the City Downtown Garage, 122 Estudillo Ave.
- Café days: As Kneaded is open Tuesday through Saturday only.
- SPOOKTOBER costumes: The contest is open to kids and pets, so have both costumes ready by October 9.
- Star Party: It's weather-dependent. A cloudy November 4 cancels it.
Later in November, the Girls on the Run Fall Celebratory 5K takes over Marina Park, 14001 Monarch Bay Drive, on November 14 from 9 a.m. to noon. The Boys & Girls Club Pool hosts Swim Now Gobble Later on November 25. The night before the 5K, on November 13, the next Second Friday brings the street party back downtown.
